I am really enjoying learning about Graphic Novels - I am a little worried I have too many resources for the assignment though, don't know how I will read them all.
One very simple thing that shocked me from what I read was about how to display graphic novels. I can't believe I had never thought about this before! I had just left my graphic novels on the shelves as they had been when I arrived in the library 3 years ago. When I saw a picture of some shelving for graphic novels I nearly fell over - it was so obvious, why had it never occurred to me before? The shelves were designed at an angle to maximise space and it meant the graphic novels could be placed where their front covers were almost completely visible. Of course!!! Graphic novels - images - they should be face outs or as much as possible!
Feel really silly that i had just never thought about it before! The things you learn - sometimes the smallest of things will have the biggest impact!
Next year I will need to buy some shelving to display and promote my graphic novels better - no wonder not that many children borrow them - unless they rummaged through the shelves they wouldn't know what we have!
Now for the assignment ...
